Welcome onboard passengers! We are now approaching Spotify’s firstmetaverse destination. You are joining 24.5 million unique visitors. Introducing Spotify Island: a paradise of sound where fans and artists can connect through audio and play. Spotify was the first music-streaming brand to have a presence on Roblox and at launch, we even crashed Roblox’s servers for 24 hours while playing with superstar Mr. Beast!
Players were able to interact with our brand in an all new way. We partnered with Soundtrap to create custom tracks and interactive beatmakers. As a main highlight of the Evergreens, our Speed Level racing obbys had players returning over and over again. One year after launch, Spotify Island remains the highest rated branded experience on Roblox beating out the metaverses of Gucci, Nike, and more.

The Evergreens
Inspired by Spotify's dimensional design system, we transformed 2D expressions into a 3D wonderland. From the color palette of the "evergreens" to our like symbol being used as currency, Spotify Island is truly representative of our brand in the metaverse. Even fruits around the island were hidden as easter eggs taking inspiration from songs like "Peaches" by Justin Beiber and "Watermelon Sugar" by Harry Styles.
As we progressed the game, we developed a unique, playful tone-of-voice. Our first round of free UGC was inspired by iridescent chromes and the metaverse itself. Near the end of Season 1, we dropped the Screenshot Session Hat with the easter egg description "Season 2 just dropped early..." with hints that the screenshots on the hat were of Season 2: K-Park.

Key design elements include our custom typeface, “Heritage Display”, 3D chrome objects, and bespoke icons inspired by different Asian scripts and symbols within the Asian diaspora.

Audio Aura
Featured in our Only You campaign, on-platform, and our in-person Vidcon booth, our Audio Aura technology serves you an aura snapshot based on your listening mood. On the island, our Audio Aura booth sprouted from the ground in the form of a cosmos flower, emitting a chrome camera from the colored pollen and spores. Once entering the cosmos, fans were able to select different auras and served matching music to engage with.
